Desperate Housewifes

People I look up to

No doubt about it--my father who passed away 10 years ago on Christmas Eve. A very kind man with no education, but loved his family and friends. He owned his own taxi cab and worked 12 hours a day, 6 days a week (Sundays were always family day). He put a roof over our heads and food on the table. When my dad was in his early fifties, he had a massive stroke that he never recovered from. He spent the last 20 years of his life in a nursing home. Throughout his life, he never lost his sense of humor or love for his family and friends.

Duluth, MN

Interesting facts about me

Really not much interesting, probably kind of boring. Other than two years of living in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota, have lived in Duluth all my life. Duluth is built on a hill (some people compare it to San Francisco) and is on the tip of Lake Superior, population 85,000.

Married my first date, although we certainly weren't high school sweethearts. After our first two dates at 16 years old, didn't talk to each other for two years. We got married in 1975 and went to Vegas for our honeymoon. Didn't get the Vegas bug until our next trip 10 years later, and boy did I get bit hard. I go once a year for sure with sister/sisters, every other year with girlfriends, and once every five years with non gambling husband.

Three "adult" children. Oldest son lives in Houston and is a chemical engineer for an oil company. Middle son is stationed in Washington and just returned safe and sound from a 18 month tour in Iraq. Daughter is in San Diego doing something. Husband and I are truly enjoying the empty nest syndrome.

I have worked part-time for the past 23 years for a non profit agency that provides legal advocacy services to persons with mental health issues and developmental disabilities.

All in all, life is good. Great husband, awesome friends, good job and the best sisters ever.

I like your new avatar. That obviously must be the 3 Sisters.

Glad you like it--thanks. And yes, they are my sisters. This picture was taken on the morning of our trip in August. Living in a small town, it is easy to check in at the airport and leave for several hours. This was our dive lunch stop.
